FLORIDA FARM COMMODITY USED IN STATE-OF-THE-ART WOUND CARE AND
ARTHRITIS PAIN
Mankind has been confronted from the earliest of recorded accounts (such as that of Job) with the infinitely
perplexing problem of " non-healing wounds and skin conditions". This can include bedsores, diabetic ulcers
and other types of non-healing wounds. These skin conditions can generate long-term suffering which can only
be described as "excruciating." These wounds, even with the dedicated efforts of health care workers and care
givers, have consistently proven resistant to closure. Now Florida farmers, in conjunction with a company called
RAE'lex, are producing a commodity used in cost effective products which aid in the care and prevention of such
conditions. This commodity is called emu oil.
Rhonda Prince of Morgan City, Alabama says: "My mother who is 72 years old, has a
problem caused by a gene mutation which is aggravated by elevated hormones. The
condition can cause blood clots or phlebitis While she was pregnant, she had phlebitis in
one leg, causing the leg to have circulation problems ever since. Over the years, her leg has
always been dark red, swollen and painful. She was very protective of the leg and was not
open to using some medications. But about 2 years ago, my mother began to have even
bigger problems. She suffered a minor injury to the leg that would not heal. The wound
continued for over a year, in spite of my efforts to help by using over the counter medications.
I was fearful that my mother may lose her leg, and I suggested using the circulation product
made by RAE'lex. My mother had gotten to the point that she was desperate. She began
using the circulation formula every day on her leg, and after one month, we were amazed to
see the redness and the swelling that had been there for years was gone completely. As
soon as the redness and swelling went away, the wound healed quickly. Now we use the
RAE'lex lotion for maintenance preventive care, and it keeps the leg looking great. Not only
has the lotion kept the leg healthy, but it has cleared up the dry skin and thin skin problems
that my mother also had".
Research has taught us that human skin contains fat membranes that are important for
maintaining healthy skin and normal skin function. Skin can be depleted of these essential
fats by poor health conditions such as diabetes, aging and poor immune system functioning. Certain prescription
drugs can also deplete the skin of these natural fats. When this happens the skin can develop a variety of skin
disorders such as thin skin, chronic dry skin, premature aging, bedsores, diabetic ulcers, poor circulation in
lower limbs, stasis dermatitis, other types of skin disorders and the painful symptoms of diabetic neuropathy.
Once fat membranes are depleted of their important fats, they cannot be replenished in the skin layers by the
body. However, in 1996 a individual by the name of Darrell Good embarked on a quest to find a market for emu
products and actually found a solution for this problem. Discovering research which indicated that emu oil was
well-known for its anti-inflammatory quality and an ability to carry other anti-inflammatory ingredients through skin
tissues into deep muscle tissue (transdermal quality), and that the analysis and comparison of emu oil and
human skin revealed that the fatty acids in emu oil to be almost identical to the fat composition in normal human
skin. He worked with labs and pharmacologists in the development of products which utilize emu oil to help
replenish essential fats which have been depleted from the skin and send anti-inflammatory products to arthritic
joints and painful muscles.
Paula Argent of Union Grove, Alabama says:
"I had severe arthritis in both knees. I had
gotten to the point that my knees were so stiff
and painful that I could not get up and down or
walk up and down stairs. I was told by my
doctor that knee replacement surgery was my
only option. Desperate for relief, I began
using the Pain Relief made with emu oil on
my knees twice a day, once in the morning
and once at night. Within one week, I had
complete freedom of movement without pain.
I was able to get up and down without any
problem, and even climb stairs. Now I don't
even have to use it every day. I only use it
when I have a flare up. I recommend it for
anyone who suffers from arthritis. Everyone I
have recommended it to has loved it.” Note:
Surgery has been canceled until further
evaluation.
All RAE’lex products contain a heavy concentration of fatty acids provided by emu oil, some of which is produced
by Florida emu farmers. He currently works with a pharmacologist from the School of Pharmacology at Samford
University in Birmingham, Alabama in developing product formulas. Consequently, RAE’lex products are an
important aid in the care of existing non-healing wounds as well as other skin conditions and in maintaining
normal skin function. These products have been used in nursing homes, home health care, drugstores, medical
supply companies and in use in surgical wound care, where the products have helped to reduce a significant
amount of scar tissue as well as reducing the chance of infection. RAE’lex products have provided cost savings
to Health Care Givers and a more positive outcome for the patient and household user.
RAE’lex plans to continue its partnership with Florida farmers, using the farmer-owned Esto Meat Processors, a
USDA meat processing facility in Esto, Florida (850-263-7777) to process emu. Emu oil will be used in the
medical and skin care products produced by RAE’lex. The lean red meat, endorsed as heart healthy by the
American Heart Association, will be a pleasant agricultural by-product which will be marketed by the farmers.
