Note: Figure 1 shows the support structure and hardware used to mount the canopy onto the John Deere Gator.
6 X 4 John Deere Gator
Note: A portion of the fender must be removed to provide clearance for the canopy support structure.
1. Raise the John Deere Gator and remove the forward most rear wheels on both sides.
2. Remove the front portion of the fender sections on both sides.
Note: Refer to Figure 2 during performance of this cutout procedure.
3. Using the template supplied, carefully mark the portion of each fender to be removed.
Note: The Template covers the area of the fender to be removed.
4. Use a jigsaw or other suitable tool to remove the fender portion.
5. Dress the fender cutout with the nylon trim provided.
6. Attach the supports to the John Deere Gator as shown in Figure 1
Note: The shorter rod ( item 4 ) passes from one side of the John Deere gator to the other side through the rectangular hole in the Gator
frame. The longer rod ( item 5 ) passes from one side of the Gator to the other side underneath the John Deere Gator
7. Attach the canopy to the supports using the four bolts, eight washers, and 4 nuts supplied.
8. Ensure that the canopy is level and the supports are parallel to each other.
9. Tighten all hardware.
10. Put fenders back in place.
11. Mount the wheels back in place.

Both fenders use the same template P/N 40001. Turn over template for the other fender. The template does not
show the cuts continuing at the bottom of the fender. Continue to mark for cutout to the end of the fender as
shown by the arrows in Figures B & E. Figures C & F show the fenders cut properly.

Note: The shorter rod ( item 4 ) passes from one side of the John Deere

Gator frame. The longer rod ( item 5 ) is not used on the John Deere Gator
4 X 2. The longer rod is used only on the John Deere Gator 6 X 4.
1. Attach the bottom of each support to the frame with bracket ( item 7 ),
1/2" bolt ( item 6 ), 1/2" flat washer, and 1/2" nylock nut ( item 8 )
Note: The bolt should be positioned from the inside out with the flat washer
and nylock nut on the outside of the upright support.
2. Attach the canopy to the supports using the four bolts, eight washers and
4 nuts supplied.\
3. Insure that the canopy is level and the supports are parallel to each other.
4. Tighten all hardware.
